Ilamatepec is the highest volcano in El Salvador, rising to 2,381 meters above sea level. And yes… it’s still active. Its last eruption was in 2005, which means this mountain is very much alive. After the descent, the adventure continues with a stop at Lake Coatepeque, one of the most ridiculously beautiful volcanic lakes in Central America — the perfect place to eat, rest, and let your legs forgive you a little.
